COMMITTED
FCC is committed to justice and peace and
to the welfare of all residents of our community and the world. We financially
support Church World Service and denominational mission projects, Heifer
Project International, Doctors Without Borders, Tri-City Homeless Coalition and
other local agencies.
Every fourth Saturday, FCC and Fellowship
in Christ Church of the Brethren serve dinner at Sunrise Village. See the
Calendar of Events for information.
FCC is a member congregation of
Congregations Organizing for Renewal, a 13-congregation faith-based community
organizing project which is connected to Pacific Institute for Community
Organizations. In 1998, we were able to organize an after-school program for
students at Centerville Junior High School in Fremont. We were active in
convincing the Alameda County Board of Supervisors recently to commit 100% of
the Tobacco Settlement funds to health care issues in Alameda County. In 2002
we helped investigate and organize for improved library hours at the Fremont
Library, especially at the branch libraries in Centerville, Irvington, and
Niles. Our current focus is on affordable housing in Fremont and on improving
Para Transit for Seniors. Our Local Organizing Committee meets on 2nd
Mondays at 7:30 PM.
We are active in the interfaith community
of the Tri-Cities area. We believe that there are many ways to worship God, and
we support our brothers and sisters in their choice of religious expression.
